I offer special events at the James J. Hill House that have been very popular.  Each event begins with a tour of the beautiful James J. Hill House, with interesting facts and stories that relate to the theme of the event.  After the tour, visitors gather in the lovely Drawing Room for a relaxation class that includes deep breathing, muscle relaxation exercises, guided imagery, and meditation.  If you are interested in history and relaxation, these events are for you!

Relax into Mother's Day
at the Hill House

Spend Mother's Day with a special tour focusing on women's roles at the Hill House followed by a relaxation class led by life coach Beth Freschi.  The tour will highlight the lives and changing relationships of the women at the Hill House at the turn of the 20th century, including Mrs. Hill and her social circle; her daughters and their lives; and the many female servants who lived and worked at 240 Summit Avenue.

After the tour, gather in the Drawing Room for an hour-long class on modern day relaxation techniques that calm the mind and body.  The class will begin with deep breathing, followed by a muscle relaxation exercise, guided imagery, and a loving kindness meditation focusing on motherhood.  Practicing relaxation techniques with a loved one can be a wonderful bonding experience! 

Refreshments will be served, and each guest will receive a beautiful relaxation gift bag donated by

Begin Valentine's weekend with an event for singles and couples alike!

Romance and relaxation are the topics of a special evening tour and meditation class at the James J. Hill House.  During the tour, learn about the long marriage of James J. and Mary T. Hill, hear stories of the four family weddings held in the house, and listen to excerpts of letters and oral histories of servants discussing their romantic adventures. Visitors will see the solid gold loving cup celebrating the Hills' 50th wedding anniversary and actual pieces of wedding cake from three of the daughters' weddings.

After the tour, gather in the Drawing Room where life coach Beth Freschi will lead an hour-long class focusing on the Loving Kindness Meditation and other relaxation techniques that calm the mind and body.  The class will begin with deep breathing, followed by a muscle relaxation exercise, guided imagery and two different loving kindness meditations.  Practicing relaxation techniques with a loved one can be a wonderful bonding experience, and singles are also welcome to come and experience an expanded view of love and Valentine's Day.

Refreshments will be served.

The holiday season is often a period of high activity and accompanying stress and anxiety, which was just as true a century ago as it is today.  A special tour of the James J. Hill House will focus on the many ways the Hill family and their servants, ca. 1891-1921, found ways to celebrate the hectic Christmas and New Year’s season with elaborate entertaining and simple pleasures.

After the tour, visitors will gather in the elegant Drawing Room where Beth Freschi will lead a special relaxation session – an hour-long class using modern day relaxation techniques that calm the mind and body.  The class will begin with deep breathing, followed by a muscle relaxation exercise, guided imagery and meditation.  Previous tour/relaxation classes at the Hill House have sold out, so reservations are strongly recommended for this unique event.

National Relaxation Day at the Hill House

Celebrate National Relaxation Day with a special Hill House tour focusing on relaxation during the Gilded Age followed by a relaxation class led by life coach Beth Freschi.
 
The tour will highlight the many ways the Hill family relaxed with simple pleasures: going to Pleasant Lake on their North Oaks farm, attending concerts, theater and the opera, or just spending a quiet evening in their 36,000 square foot home on Summit Avenue. James J. Hill enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, Mary T. Hill was always knitting, and both were avid readers. 
 
After the tour, visitors will gather in the elegant Drawing Room where Beth Freschi will lead a special relaxation class using modern day relaxation techniques that calm the mind and body. The class will begin with deep breathing, followed by a muscle relaxation exercise, guided imagery and meditation. The benefits of using relaxation techniques include improved focus, decreased stress, better sleep, enhanced creativity and a sense of wellbeing.
 
This event is all about relaxation, and celebrates the fun activities associated with relaxation as well as effective relaxation techniques that can help us when we feel stressed.

Mothers and daughters are invited to conclude their Mother’s Day weekend with a special tour focusing on women’s roles at the Hill House followed by a relaxation class led by Life Coach Beth Freschi.

Recently, Minnesota Public Radio published on their website a story about how Mother's Day was originally a call for peace.  The Relax into Mother's Day event at the James J. Hill House ties in nicely with this theme by featuring images of peace and loving kindness in the relaxation class.
 
Previous relaxation classes at the Hill House sold out, so reservations are strongly recommended for this unique event.
 
The lilacs will most likely be in bloom in May—always a good time to visit the Hill House!

Banish the negative thoughts associated with Friday the 13th!  Instead, begin the Valentine’s Day weekend with a special tour focusing on Hill House romances followed by a Loving Kindness Meditation class led by life coach Beth Freschi.
 
This special tour will highlight the nearly half century marriage of James J. and Mary T. Hill, and will include stories of family weddings held in the house, and even the “below-stairs” romances of the servants!

This event at the James J. Hill House combines history and relaxation with a holiday theme.  The evening will begin with a tour of the beautiful James J. Hill House, led by Hill House site manager Craig Johnson. The tour will highlight excerpts from Mrs. Hill's newly transcribed diaries regarding stress and how she and Mr. Hill managed to relax during their busy lives.
 
Following the tour, visitors will gather in the Drawing Room, where Beth Freschi will lead a class on modern day relaxation techniques to calm the mind and body. The class will begin with deep breathing, followed by a muscle relaxation exercise, guided imagery, and meditation.
 
This will be a wonderful way to begin the Holiday Season in a relaxing, pleasant manner!
