About Beth

Beth Freschi, M.A., Pre-Licensed Counselor

When someone comes to talk with me, I offer my compassion and deep listening so they can feel safe expressing what is on their mind and feel free to be themselves. Each person is unique, and individual differences intrigue me. There are so many ways to experience the world, and my counseling approach begins with the client's perspective, building a collaborative, empathetic relationship along the way.

With over 20 years of experience in mental health and stress management, I specialize in working with Highly Sensitive Persons (HSPs), Empaths, and people seeking greater understanding, emotional well-being, and a path forward.

My interest in psychology began in college when I turned my fascination with the individual into a career path. I graduated from St. Olaf College with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. After gaining experience in psychiatric research, peer counseling, and support group facilitation, I earned a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from the University of St. Thomas.

Working with clients at a community mental health center and with patients on a locked psychiatric unit expanded my compassion for people struggling with serious mental health symptoms. I believe in the dignity of every person, and I have learned that struggles may be part of someone’s story, but they do not define the person. In these clinical settings, I balanced treating people's symptoms/problems with talking to the healthy side of their personality—this gave me a better view of the whole person and fostered our therapeutic relationship.

Over the years, I also developed a coaching practice focused on relaxation techniques, stress management, and personal growth. Through hundreds of groups and individual sessions, I learned something that continues to guide me today: when people feel genuinely heard with compassion and respect, new insights can emerge naturally. These moments of understanding often become the beginning of meaningful change.

As a Pre-Licensed Counselor practicing under the supervision of Jennie Yngsdahl, MA, Licensed Psychologist (Minnesota / MN LP 4935), Clinical Supervisor of the Center for Counseling and Wellness, I draw on my background in counseling psychology and over 20 years of experience supporting emotional well-being. I view counseling as a collaborative process, one conversation at a time, with room for curiosity, reflection, and growth.

I hope to offer an expression of care and a welcoming presence to every person I meet. Whether we spend time exploring life's challenges, personal strengths, important relationships, or hopes for the future, my goal is to listen, understand, and create an environment where you feel respected and free to be yourself.

Fees and Payment

I believe that counseling should be as accessible as possible. Because every person's circumstances are different, I offer a sliding fee scale of $50 to $150 per session. At this time, my counseling practice is offered on a private-pay basis. If you prefer to use insurance, all the excellent counselors at the Center for Counseling and Wellness accept most health insurance plans.

Many people appreciate the simplicity, flexibility, and privacy that private-pay counseling provides, allowing us to focus on the counseling relationship without the requirements that sometimes accompany insurance reimbursement.

If you have questions about fees or payment, I am happy to discuss them with you. Finding the right counselor is an important and personal decision, and I hope this flexible approach helps more people find the support they are seeking.
